Total Reach DDS Trouble Code

The Total Reach DDS system provides a quick

diagnosis in the case of a circuit condition where conti-

nuity is broken. The trouble code type received by a

tester determines whether the open condition is

occurring on the 2-wire local loop or at the customer

premises. In the event of a 2-wire DSL loss of signal,

loss of sync, or open condition caused by an open

conductor or disconnected 2-wire loop, the Total Reach

DDS CO unit will transmit towards the network one of

two trouble codes. The trouble code is dependent on the

installed Total Reach DDS CO unit, but will be either a

Mux-Out-of-Sync (MOS 9Ah), or alternating MOS and

Abnormal Station Code (ASC 9Eh). During similar

Out-of-Service condition of the 4-wire interface on the

customer premise, the Total Reach OCU-R, transmits

an ASC towards the network. Figure 6 depicts the two

Out-of-Service conditions.

During a similar Out-of-Service condition at the

customer premises, the Total Reach OCU-R transmits

upstream into the network as shown in Figure 7.

Dual Function LBK Button (SW2)

The Total Reach OCU-R contains a recessed, front

panel mounted momentary-action pushbutton (LBK)

that allows for initiating loopbacks from the OCU-R, as

well as toggling between hardware and software options

settings. The local test capabilities allow for both local

loopback of the OCU-R, as well as looping back the

Total Reach DDS CO unit without test equipment,

dumb terminal, or centralized test coordination.

Pressing the button for 5 seconds or longer will change

the option settings between the hardware (DIP switch)

and the software provisioned settings.
