Building your network using the
NetVanta 3000 Series
ADTRAN’s NetVanta 3000 Series provides
all the necessary components required to
engineer a complete LAN/WAN internetwork-
ing solution. These devices reduce initial and
ongoing equipment expenditures, provide
reliable circuit termination and data routing,
and fit seamlessly into existing operations.
Complete access routing
functionality
The NetVanta 3000 Series offers a complete
solution for access routing and wide area
connectivity in a single, compact package.
These devices are perfect for Internet access,
public and private Frame Relay, access leased
line connections, and Virtual Private
Networking. Feature-rich platforms include
routing, QoS, integral DSU/CSU, stateful
inspection firewall, and optional PPP
dial backup, PBX connectivity, and
IPSec-compliant VPN tunneling.
A flexible, modular platform:
NIMs and DIMs
The NetVanta 3000 Series is a modular
platform that allows for future expansion and
network growth. Choose from a variety of
interchangeable Network Interface
Modules (NIMs) for 56/64 kbps, T1/FT1,
T1/FT1 with DSX-1, E1/FE1, E1/FE1
with G.703, or Serial interface. Optional
Dial Backup Interface Modules (DIMs)
guarantee bandwidth for mission-
critical applications using ISDN BRI
or analog modem circuits to dial around a
failed primary circuit. The analog modem can
also be used for remote dial-in configuration
and management. All NIMs and DIMs are field
swappable and can be configured remotely,
eliminating the need for additional on-site
technical expertise.
A reliable operating system
The ADTRAN OS makes quick and
responsive IP routing decisions based on
the configuration options and protocols
selected. It supports static routing, as well
as popular IP routing protocols, such as OSPF
and RIP. Bridging is used to support non-IP
protocols. To enable connection to the wide
area network, Frame Relay and PPP protocols
are supported for branch office connectivity
and Internet access.
Two full versions of the ADTRAN OS can
coexist on a NetVanta 3000 Series router.
This simplifies testing of newly released
versions and allows system backup.
New enhancements to firmware can be
implemented throughout your network
using TFTP or FTP update from a central
location, lowering cost of ownership.
The NetVanta
®
3000 Series is a low-cost option that includes
firewall, QoS, and DSU
/
CSU, with support for PPP dial backup,
VPN, and PBX connectivity.
For more than five years, ADTRAN
®
has designed and manufactured
various products that include routing
technology. More than 100,000 of
these units are now installed in the
networks of service providers and
corporate customers worldwide.
Prior to the NetVanta 3000 Series,
ADTRAN routers had been marketed
as an integral feature in selected
models of VPN, integrated access,
T1 DSU/CSU, and other wide area
connectivity products. Now ADTRAN
offers standalone, full service access
routers with integral DSU/CSU,
featuring a full 5-year warranty
and world-class technical support.
When adding, replacing, or upgrading an access
router, consider the NetVanta 3000 alternative.
The NetVanta 3000
Command Line Interface
(CLI) has a familiar look
and feel, eliminating
retraining costs.
