Power Interface

The Total Access backplane will deliver two -48 VDC

buses to each Access Module. The Quad T1/E1 IMA

Module will operate with either or both buses active.

In addition, both buses are fused and will provide a

blown fuse indication. Finally, a front panel LED

indicator is included to provide power status

information.

Initial Installation Provisioning Options

Upon initial installation of the Quad T1/E1 IMA

Module, the unit will be provisioned according to

factory default settings.

SCU User/Supervisory Interface

User access to the Quad T1/E1 IMA Module is

through the SCU via the system bus present on the

Total Access backplane. The Quad T1/E1 IMA

Module will generate all corresponding menu items.

The SCU will initiate and control the transfer of

commands and data to and from the unit. All

provisioning and data reporting will take place over

the communication bus.

Diagnostics

The Quad T1/E1 IMA Module will monitor each IMA

link for anomalies in accordance with ANSI

T1.104-1995. The Quad T1/E1 IMA Module will

report its status to the SCU for alarm processing.

Alarms

Shelf-Level Alarms are reported to the SCU. A Major

Alarm will be generated upon Loss of Signal, either

from the network side or loop side.

Front Panel LED Indicators

Performance status information can be collected from

LED indicators located on the front panel. The

indicators include PWR, Port 1, Port 2, Port 3, Port 4,

and IMA. Each indicator is described in Table 2.
